Jul 13 2008     Duranub Raiding Schedule
by Valnor | 338 Views | Rating: (0 rates)
Raid Information and RulesTuesdays -- 9:30 PM to Midnight**
Thursdays -- 9:30 PM to Midnight

Note that all the times listed above are Server Time (i.e. Eastern Standard Time).

Invitations to the raid will begin approximately half an hour before the raid is scheduled to begin. The Council asks that you do your best to be prepared and ready during that time so that we can begin raiding as close to the start time as possible to maximize our time. Once it has become clear that there is no way to fit anymore content into the current raiding schedule the Raid Council will discuss what night would be a good one to add. When we do add a night you can expect the times to be very similar to the ones listed above.

** The Tuesday raid will happen so long as there is no big patch. If there is a patch then we will take the night off to avoid the server lag that is always there. On days when this happens, a member of the council will make a News post that will show on the front page at least 1 hour before scheduled invites.
Jul 15 2008     Duranub Loot Rules
by Valnor | 289 Views | Rating: (0 rates)
Raid Information and RulesBefore we get started, you should know that the loot rules listed here apply only to the 25-man raids that we will run. 10-mans will never use the same point base that we outline in this article. Basically any 10-mans that are run with Duranub members are not affected by anything that is stated here.

Duranub uses a 0-sum DKP loot system. More specifically, we use an open auction format. This means that when a epic level (or higher) loot drops we will run an auction and people will be allowed to bid in raid chat. The winner of the item will pay the point amount stated by the auctioneer, and the points will be distributed to the raid in a real time format. All items will be started out at 100 points for a minimum bid. At the end of the auction, if two or more people hold the winning bid there will be a random roll to see who receives the item. If no one bids on the item in the time of the auction then the item will be appropriated by the raid bank for disenchanting. Duranub currently does not allow for loot to be given to a person for no points just to prevent the item from being disenchanted. If you want the loot for any reason, then you should be willing to pay at least some points for it.

Quick aside: It is conceivable that we will run into the situation where a character wants a piece of gear to use but does not have enough points for the minimum bid. if this is the case they can whisper the loot master to basically go all in. If it so happens that no one bids on the item in question, then the person with the most points (but still less than the minimum) that expressed interest will be awarded the item for the entirety of their points. In this way we hope to keep gear from being disenchanted when it could be used to advance the raid in general.

Duranub requires that new raiders go through a vesting process before they are given their full allotment of points to use in the loot system. At the beginning of each raid a new person attends they will receive 200 points. At the begining of the fifth raid, a raider will be considered fully vested in the system with 1000 points (plus any that are the result of others winning loot within the system.) Anyone is welcome to bid on loot that they can use so long as they have the points to bid. Any bids that are for more than the amount that a raider has will not be accepted.

Points belong to the characters, not the raiders that play those characters. If a person brings a character other than their main to a raid, that character is treated as if they are simply new to the raid. The only time that points will be transferred is if the Raid Council approves a raider's switch to a new main character, at that point the Council will transfer the point balance to the new main (or swap point totals if the other character is already in the system.) Be aware that this is a one-way transfer however in that the Council will not approve that many swaps. If a raider disappears from the raid with no word to any Councilor as to where they have gone, then after 4 weeks they will be reduced to 1000 points and the appropriated points will be redistributed to all other raiders in the system. If the character has fewer than 1000 points then a tax will be collected to raise them to 1000 from the rest of the raid (Yes I know that this part sounds harsh, but it is the best way to preserve a near true 0-sum system!) If a character goes a full 6 weeks without the Council hearing anything, then the raider is removed from the system entirely and must go through the vesting process if they return. If the raider contacts a Council member before the 4-week period is up (or before you leave if you can) then the Council will be amenable to preserving that character's points.

The Raid Council will be appointing raid crafters for patterns that can drop in the raids we are running. When a pattern that is BoP that crafts a BoE item drops, it will be looted straight to the raid crafter of that skill for the cost of no points. This is because that person has agreed to craft that pattern for anyone in the raid that has the materials for no extra cost. Materials that are used in crafting said items (e.g. Nether Vortexes) will be collected by the master looter and deposited into the raid bank at the end of the night. If a raider wants to have an item crafted and needs items from the bank, they can request those items by making a post in the proper forum on the website. NO ORDERS will be filled from the raid bank unless there is a corresponding post for the item on the forum. When an order has been filled the Council member that filled it will post in the thread that it has been filled. Currently there is no point cost for having an item crafted for your main raid character that advances his/her position in the raid. We are currently not accepting any requests for crafting off-spec gear for mains or gear for alts of any kind.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM a Councilor here on the forums or catch us in-game.

Happy Hunting!!

P.S Here is a quick summary
  • Points as you raid up to your fifth raid.
  • Items are 100 point minimum.
  • There is an 'all in' option if the item would otherwise be DE'd and you can't pay the minimum.
  • Crafters will get patterns that produce BoE items for free (if they are raid appointed)
  • Bank requests are filled only for mains and their primary role in the raid.
  • Points are your Character's not yours to move as you want.
Jul 16 2008     Raid Discipline

Raid Information and RulesOkay.

This is the article where we line out what we would like to see from you (and us) as raiders. This article will line out what we expect from everyone in the way of conduct as a raider. I really suggest reading this closely. Basically there are two sections in this article, conduct while in the raid, and performance in the raid.

To start off, here are the conduct rules. We know that every raider that we bring in has at least a streak of maturity in them. We want you to be as mature as possible during the raids. This includes everything from not blowing up at fellow raiders, to trying to contain any immature outbursts, to picking yourself up after a wipe and going back at it with the goal of success. We know that people are not going to be able to follow these rules all the time (like we said in the app, everyone hits their hand with a hammer at least once). Basically what we don't want to see is any behavior that would detract from the raid. While the Council will always do our best to warn someone when they are stepping over the line, we will be swift in taking action that if the severity of the incident warrants it. (WoW speak: Act out too badly and we will drop the ban hammer no matter when it happens.) If you are having a problem with another raider, we encourage you to do your best to work things through with that person (who knows you might make a friend for life in the process.) If, however, you cannot work through the issues then bring it to the Council in a PM and we will see what we can do to help out.

Now the second discipline area: performance in the raid. We as a Raid Council will be using tools to track the overall performance of the raid every night. If we begin to notice that there is a problem with performance in the raid, we will take note of the issue and watch it closely. Once we isolate that a specific player is not performing to their best every night (be it lack of preparedness, grabbing aggro, not healing) the Council will take that person aside at the end of the current raid and inform them of the concerns that the Council has. At this point the raider will be given 2 weeks to correct the problem. During that time, the Council will open up recruitment for the position in question. At the end of the 2 weeks probation, the Council will reevaluate the performance of the raider and see if improvements have been made. If the raider seems to have made the improvement, then the recruiting will be closed and the raider will keep their position in the raid. If no effort has been made to correct the problems, then the raider will be dismissed from the raid and a new recruit will be brought in. Either way the raider in question will be informed at the end of a raid and will always receive a reason for the action.

Raid Information and Rules
  • Prompt Information: If we ever have to call off a raid we will do our best to put up a News post on the front page alerting you as far ahead of the raid as is possible.
  • Standardization: We even have nice little banners here on the website that list our Kill and CC order....Have you seen them?
  • Where you are raiding: We will always state at the end of the current raid where we are going the next time the raid forms up.
Those are the items that you can count on the Raid Council informing you about in a timely manner so that you can be in the loop. There are a few other things that we should probably note here just so that they are stated.

Invites: All raid invites will come from a member of the Raid Council. The Council members will conduct invites based on who we have that night and those members that are seasoned veterans of Duranub. Keep in mind though that we have to preserve a working raid balance so some things may change. You can expect that once you are invited, you will remain in the raid the entire night. We will not ask someone to step out just because a more seasoned person has arrived late.

Loot: Not much to say here other than go read the loot article.

Discipline: Again, go read the other article.

Times: Still another article. Wow this is getting repetitive. :-)

Raid Information and RulesThe following is a list of mods that the Raid Council would like you to install if you intend to raid with us. The Council will always do its best to make sure that the list is short and does not contain any extraneous mods. In addition, for every mod that we have on this list we are providing a link to a website that we feel you can trust to not infect your computer with anything that could compromise your WoW account. The Raid Council will NEVER ask you to go out and get a mod without first providing a link here. If you encounter any difficulties in grabbing the mod or configuring it after you install it, please let us know so we can help you get everything set up.
